I’ve missed this entirely then. How so?

Obviously there’s the 150 year Test in 2027 which Root will probably play in, if we assume he’s lasting to next home Ashes
Australia win by 45 runs, Smith scores 165

Smith boutta average less than Viv if he plays until 2028 bruh
Not sure how a 2027 Centenary (and a half) test = 2028 but ok.

In fact a Centenary test, especially one we’re likely to win, wouldn’t be a surprising time for a few of our players to retire.

But wouldn't those Aussies playing the Centenary test not want to play the 2027 Ashes starting 3 months after the Centenary test?

I mean, I’d rather go out in front of an adoring crowd at home after a win which also celebrates the history of the sport rather than trudge off to England but that’s just me.

They are looking to do a rejig of the FTP where BGT, Ashes and Ind-Eng happens in a 3-year cycle instead of a 4-year cycle. So based on that next Ashes in Australia could well be in 2028 rather than 2029.

But they could finish at home too, soon after the Ashes.
