Apparently he is going to face trial for affray, along with other members of his family. This following an unsavoury WhatsApp incident not so long ago. Presumably he just doesn't want to further his career internationally, even though the alleged offence took place 12 months ago.

But yeah, saw this story and had the same thought as you. When he was coming through the ranks before the WhatsApp stuff broke it seemed a lock that he would go on to play for England at some point. But I can't see the ECB wanting much to do with him now, for the medium term at least.

He actually had the makings of a half decent keeper, certainly superior to James Bracey (not that he's the benchmark).
