What kind of nonsense is this
a bit of the delusional kind, If Mike Gatting refused to play Tests and retired with 32,000 FC runs @ 52, which is superior to Cook's 21,000 FC runs @ 51, we would also have some nerd on here swearing that Gatting was an underrated batting legend who would have been as good as Kallis if he got a full career.

It’s only reasonable to have the “what if” questions? Esp about that 1970s / 1980s SA side with Richards, Pollock, Procter, Rice, Cook, Peter Kisten, Cook etc which could theoretically have challenged the Winidies. But it’s impossible to compare against people who had massive success in the test arena like Graeme Smith

Cook averages 33.92 against the Rebel Australian and West Indies lineups but performing on par with Gatting and Hick in CC puts him on the same level as Greenidge I guess
