Jayasuriya set to retire

I think it's a bit of a shame he went back on his initial retirement plans myself, even if he was forced into them. Has never been a Test force since late in 2004\05, and it's always a shame to see a once top-notch player go on too long.

Yeah only from Tests ...but really I don't know why he is hanging on in ODIs ...except for the fact that SL are playing Tri-series next Feb...And SL selectors "the Muppets" don't want to suffer big losses to Australia and India and so have begged him to probably hang on till then...

Why don't they just let him play to the end of this series?
I think it might be a good move by the muppets. If Jaya plays the next test and retires, it would leave the third test open for an opener to make a debut or perhaps hand things over to Tharanga. It is a positive move imo nevertheless! .

only from test cricket most likely,
I think he needs to retire from all forms of the game. No doubt that he brings experience and some explosive batting, but in my own opinion..."I think its about time". Bring on the young guns!

Well if so then his last innings will be 76, could have finished far worse if so TBH.
