There was a HUGE difference between the WI that Miandad faced vs the one that AB did though. So that average of 33 needs to be in context.

Nobody would compare the West Indies Miandad played to the one AB played! Javed wasn't great against them but he had a very good tour there at least.

29 against WI sorry*, it's 33 in WI. Even Gower has slightly better numbers but Miandad did have to play them more near the end.

Miandad is an ATG. Not T1 ATG but consensus T2 ATG. I'm not sure AbDV is in test cricket.

T1 means viable for AT WXI A or B.

ABD. The more we discuss him, the higher I am inclined to rank him.

The only reason we can't rank him an ATG is that he batted so deep, his career coincided with the flat era and should have played a couple of years more. But in terms of skill, I would put him in the Lara/Tendulkar level.

He is more skilled than Miandad. I would say Miandad had the better career.

I don't think so though. Miandad's WI record is a big hole. ABD had no holes. Succeeded everywhere and a variety of his class knocks. Plus like I said, he simply seemed a better bat.

To be fair you always make a big thing of where a batsman ranks in his era. I would say Miandad wins there and he also has better longevity than ABD. Would still agree with you though that AB is more skilled. I think Miandad is better than Crowe, Greenidge, Gooch and Gower; but I don't think he's exactly miles better than any of those guys. And I would have Border ahead of him.
