He does rate Gilly higher. That statement about Flower was a one off. He had an entire discussion about the AT keeper selection and Flower's name didn't come up once. Not even in jest.
He rates Knott higher than Gilly. In fact he made some good arguments, I am leaning towards that actually.

Yeah he did make the case because it's close and Knott's a good option. Not sure he rates him higher though.
He rates Ames quite highly too iirc.

Yeah, and I know you're kidding.

As it's not so much that m he rates his keeping, he doesn't really rate Gilly's that highly.

The amount of time he's quoted Warne, though he acknowledges the context and the relationship.
Yeah he's big on the Warne/Berry stuff.

Does he? I'm not sure.
I think he does.

The thing about Gilly is that he was a world class keeper.

But any of us who grew up watching Healy, knows that he wasn't an ATG gloveman, and Heal's was easily his superior and it wasn't close.

His batting while great (or for reference, what some call ATVG), it has more to do with the impact than the average, as even the fraud 4 are docked for the era.

I have him and Knott and ATG's, with Evans perilously close, and the great thing about Gilchrist and the two definitive points for him to make any AT team is the presence of Warne and how well he handled him, and that he allows the selection of the best attack without worry about batting (I know you're a bat deep guy).

But as one who I believe rates Imran bowling pretty highly, a Knott / Imran pairing make up for Gilly's production with the bat, giving you an elite Keeper and you still get your reverse.

Think that was Kimber's exact argument for Knott tbh.

Thoughts?

Yes he thinks he is underrated as a bat and overrated as bowler. I have the opposite views lol. He rates him no.3 AR the same as I do.
I also agree with the majority of his cricketing opinions, with the exception of the fact that he selected Flower over Gilly as a wicketkeeper batter.

I think he made that an argument for the sake of making an argument, as in that's the argument to be made for selecting knott over Gilly. Gilly's argument wasn't made because well, it's quite obvious. Don't know still he selects Knott or Gilly. The gap is bigger in batting, but keeping is the primary skill.
To me, I'll select Gilly, but Knott isn't far off.

Gilly for me is a first choice as well. And to be clear, Gilchrist in a vacuum is fine, it's just when compared to the Knott's and the Healy's that you see that there's more there.
