Is Javed Miandad an ATG test batsman?

I don't know for sure due to not watching javed's career, but perhaps YK goes above Javed. At least you can bank on YK to go big in Asia when playing away. YK has 9 tons in India, SL and BD. How good Javed was against spin?

I think some one who watched both will be in a better position to make that call.

If Miandad isn't an ATG then none of Ponting, Williamson, Root and Nourse are either because all of them have similar home/away splits.

Only because there are less 50 year old Pakistani fans than Australian/English millennials. Applying the same level of nitpicking, neither's away record looks that flash.

Name one great series Ponting had away from against an attack comparable to Hadlee's NZ. Similarly, Root has a couple of double tons on roads in Asia to make his record look better than it actually is there. He got shown up by Kamran Ghulam and Ashwin when the ball actually spun. I'll take Miandad's series defining runs in England and NZ over that, thanks.

Miandad hate is one of those fads that is the manifestation of terminally online brain-worms in much the same way Pollock became a better all rounder than Botham for a while. It'll pass when a certain poster has had his fill of attention.

I can't help but love how emotional this guy is over Miandad and Botham, they are not reading your posts with a big smile on their face and tears in their eyes, chill out if people have them lower than you do. It happens. Stop being such a crybaby right after making an (albeit, bad) argument.

Without great home numbers, I don't think anyone will be disussing ATG status for Javed. So it comes down to who takes home numbers for Javed seriously and who does not.

I used to rate Javed higher earlier but after looking closely , I have started rating him a bit lower.

What I'm saying is that there are other Asian (also some SENA) bats who have a home/away disparity that is worse. Jayawardene, Warner, Sehwag, just off the top of my head. Even Root has a meaningful (though not quite as big) Home/Away disparity, in spite of England being generally a lower run scoring location.

So why would we just completely discredit home numbers for Miandad only, when all above batsmen build their reputation also on home numbers, with comparable, and sometimes worse disparities.

An opinion shared by many, and a completely respectable one! Basically, stop being a crybaby and trying to get attention by practising internet edgelord language toward people who don't agree with you. I forgive you for trying to get my attention over months with a wierd Tsundere-esque one sided hatred but it gets annoying when you extend it to the rest of the forum.

This is why Barrington is GOATed. Because yes, obviously, players generally will perform best on their home pitches.

Fun stat which doesn’t mean or imply anything but people will get pissed anyway: Sobers and Miandad have almost the exact same home/away disparity.

My issue with Miandad isn't as much his Home/Away disparity as is his overall away record. His record in WI, AUS and even ENG isn't Great, at all. NZ is ATG and India very good but that's it really. And not being given lbw once at home for a 12 year long period is a notable question mark on his Home record, much moreso than Imran.

I don't think most consider Jayawardene, Warner, Sehwag etc as an ATG.

I don't think issue is only home and away disparity. Issue is not taking Javed's home numbers at a face value. That's why I asked about his game against spin in Asia when he stepped out of home. I did not see him play so can't judge that aspect.

Was javed a top class player of spin? If yes, then why he has zero tons in India/SL after getting so many chances. Some one like YK could surely score tons after getting so many chances.

Also, Javed's away avg is not bad. Mid 40s avg is same as some one like Ponting.

And please note, you're the one who brought it up.

During this period, it's beloved that they were just cheating for Javed? Really? When Imran was basically averaging between 12 and 14 at home with the ball mind you.

True that, except that Sobers' away average of roughly 51 is still great. More so, if you factor in that he averaged 53 and 46 vs the two best teams of his times.
