Is Jadeja the most underrated cricketer going?

centurymaker

Cricketer Of The Year
He was largely underrated prior to the Aus tour of 2000-21. Since then he's become largely right rated.

I want management to make him feel like a proper test batter, which he is, and bat him in Top 5 regularly (when Pant is there then no 6)
So a specialist batsman will then have to bat at 7? Most probably Iyer..

My ideal XI
Rohit
Pujara
Kohli
Pant (wk)
Jaddu
Iyer
Sundar
Ashwin
Axar
Shami
Siraj

If Pant is N/A , play Gill as opener, and bat Bharat at 7 or 8.
Also, in the long run Kohli and Pujara will go, which means Sarfaraz comes in and Gill hopefully is permanently etched.
.we could play a seam bowler for Axar in away conditions and can even play another seam all-rounder in place of Sundar.

Isn't the fundamental problem with any assessment of Jadeja, particularly when incorporating his stats, that he has never appeared to be an automatic pick in the India side. If a player is only being picked when conditions are perceived as suiting their game, then it is inevitably going to skew things in their favour. Now it may be clear that the range of conditions that are perceived as suiting him, or certainly allowed his selection as an allrounder, may have increased over the years, but it's still got to be seen as a problem, hasn't it?

Not the same of course, but it's a bit like when people used to argue that Macgill was better than Warne, based on him often appearing to outbowl Warne in matches when they both played.

What’s happened to Bumrah? Injury?

Never is a bold statement and I'm not sure where this idea that he never was an automatic pick comes from. Team management not backing him as much as they should've is not Jadeja's fault and I don't know why people want it to be when assessing him.

Jadeja is very good in India and in Asia in general.

His record outside Asia is pretty average to be honest which is reflected in the significantly fewer tests that he's played.
