BTW, do u guys think he will be a better batter if relieved from captaincy
Captaincy doesn't seem to have effected his batting at all. If anything it has only strenghtend his mental resolve and imporved his personal performance. You cannot accuse him of not leading from the fore-front. [witness the last couple of games again Aus]
ODI's: In 43 matches as a skipper he has scored 1513 runs at a whooping rate of 51 which is about 11 more then his carrier average. Except against NZ, [average 24.5 from 7 innings] he has scored well over a mean rate of 40/match.
And in his last 10 games he has scored 470 runs at an average 67.14 [four continuous half-centuries preceeded by a low score and another half-century against WI, Aus, Ind, SL both home and away]
In Tests: His test form, admittedly hasn't been that good. He averages a lowly [by his standards] 40 from 17 innings [including the dismal, injury-carrying performance against Aus without which his average improves slightly to 43]
To his [admittedly minor] credit: the games were played against Aus, NZ, SL and India so he cannot be accused of performing against minnows. His recent form seemed on an upward slant before the disastrous test against Australia, hovering around his carrier average of 49 but as a whole, statistically speaking atleast, Inzamam seems to have had more problem adapting to his role as a captain plus premier batsman in test cricket.
How does this reflect as a whole on his form?
Definately, all those who have followed his carrier can attest that he is playing as well in ODI's as he ever did and not just in meat-pie games either. [Remember the 70 odd against India and the recent scores against Australia] Whether this purple patch will continue for an extended ammount of time is difficult to determine, since so many factors come into fray - I certainly wouldn't bet against him playing 2007 WC, fitness nonwithstanding.
In test matches: I'm positive he'll hit some form sooner or latter. For me he has always been better in the longer version of the game, and the recent form slump, if you can it that, seems to be vanishing as he gains more maturity as a captain.
