In order to establish how your tactics are working to try and fine tune your team, at every game you play, your assistant manager will be watching your performance and providing feedback on the way the team has followed your orders.
This feedback will take the form of an email to you in the days after the game (assuming you've submitted tactics of course, because if not the assistant will be doing his own thing!)
Hopefully this will allow managers to realise where something might not be working and modify it for the next game.
