ICC Trophy 2005

chekmeout

U19 Debutant
My predictions are:-

Scotland, Ireland, Netherlands, Namibia and the other team that comes 2nd in Group A to qualify for the World Cup with Scotland winning the trophy.

I think they have a very good chance NL especially considering they are playing PNG and Oman first. But i just think that the other sides in their group are slightly better. NL bowling looks every suspect without thier old captain Roland something.
Lefebvre. :)

Has Lefebvre finally retired then?

I remember him in County Cricket back when I first started following it (late 80s, early 90s) - him and old Stan Mortensen at Derby.

Yeah he retired with KJJ van Noortwijk after the last WC, after 20 years of playing for Holland. I think the loss of those two have left a mjor hole in the Holland side. Lefebvre playing county cricket in 1990 to 1998 BTW, well that what his bio says.

Well, Scotland are in trouble:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/counties/scotland/4076342.stm

Seam bowler Asim Butt has tested positive for XTC following a Totesport League match, and has been banned from competing in the ICC Trophy.

I feel sorry for the guy. He's an amateur player, and I cannot fault someone for wanting to have a good night out, yet because he occasionally happens to play amongst the well-payed pro's he gets the same treatment.

Nevertheless, he would have played against us Dutch, so I guess the Scots will have to field a weakened side come what could be a crunch match July 7.

But...a, say, member of the Dutch team (apart from ten Doeschate) would have no chance of being caught by a drugs test, as the Dutch team is not involved in a professional league.
The Scots, with a similat level of amateurism, are in a full-pro environment for the Totesport League. I question the fairness of having to abide by pro-sport rules while you're an amateur player.

Don't get me wrong here I know it's a stereotype but isn't that legal in Holland so then they'd be allowed to use it?

The legality of the substance's use in general life is irrelevant, if a performance increase can be related to it.

Steroids are also "legal" if prescribed by a doctor, but athletes can't get those prescriptions. Or caffeine - perfectly legal in most cases, too much of it in an athlete and you're out.

haha yup cannabis. i think the cricket said someone was caught but refused to say who.
Cannabis is legal but not for a sportman as it can be performance related just like fis..uhm Hakon said. :)

I usually play darts on a board. Those little spliffs are hard to hit at the best of times.

We must get the sh*t stuff, then. It didn't make my snooker any worse...infact it probably made it better (but that's not too hard. I can't get any worse)
