Player editor is awesome.

Wahey, well done! Im annoyed they are waiting to release it from New Zealand, ive ordered mine from there :!(

So Im glad theyve got Taunton, disappointed theyve opted for East London instead of Potchefstroom or Benoni though :( And Bloemfontein for that matter :!(

Whats the editor like? Can you change the name of teams? Id like to put my club side in
:D

Do tailenders actually bat like real tailenders, and are world class batsmen better than the rest...

Oh and if you could post a screenie of Taunton, that would be wonderful :D many thanks, if you havent disappeared to play it

Glad to see Derbyshire and Derby are represented.

Are there :

1. facilities to dock Derbyshire points for sub-standard pitches?
2. armadillos?

Santa promised it me:D

<quack> not yet - birthday, I reckon.

cricket 2004

Yeah - I just bought Cricket 2004 today... taken off the carts in Harvey Norman even before they put it on the shelves.

Good things:
*Fielders look terriffic - diving in the field, even TURNING AROUND to chase a ball behind them etc... and they even look good
*Team Management is very good... on par if not better than FIFA 2002. Team selection is very cool too... with the ability to pick a squad of 15 or so before a series, and then pick from those players.
*General batting graphics - much better than Cricket 2002... however, there doesn't really seem to be a pull shot "ala Ricky Pointing" (one of my favourite shots). Theres a leg-glance and a hook but I don't thing you can do a genine pull shot (or haven't I been playing long enough??)
*Even the friggin sky looks good...

Not so good things:
*Commentary is pathetic... abosolutely nothing original, and you get sick of Richie and Jim in about 5 minutes. They still say things that are incorrect too. At first, it's cool that you get tips from Jim Maxwell when you're in the nets (i.e. That shot is not really on - use your front foot, when to leave balls etc.)... however, he NEVER shuts up.
*the crowd spoils what is otherwise a very good-looking game. They still look blocky and disgusting... why couldn't they do crowds like in FIFA 2002??
*AI is still a little stupid - field placings not always good, but it changes bowlers ususally at the correct time.

And of course, the biggest stand out is the effort to "get it right" with Cricket 2003 - i.e. including domestic teams, injuries, team management etc.

As was said by a previous post-er, here is a game finally worth playing.

is there more inculded in the PC version than on the PS2 version...

for example on total club manager 2004, the PC version inculdes an national team manager , and the PS2 version does not...

so what i'm saying is does the PS2 version have the same as the PC version?

Langeveldt

Soutie
Nope the PC version and PS2 version are the same, although the PC version can have mods added, if you are into that stuff :D

Good to hear the AI has improved...it needed to.

One other thing that made me eventually swap the last copy for Madden 2003...do the quicks still just bowl gun barrel straight? Surely there is some decent movement off the deck or though the air?? Brett Lee in real life bowls pretty consistent outswingers with the new ball...in 2002, he bowled pretty consistent straight cannon fodder...I am praying this is different

The worst thing about the game by far is Maxwells comentary in the nets , :!( :!( :!( :!( :!( :!(
It repetitive , useless & INCREDIBLY IRRITATING , I just wish there was an option to switch it off:(

Totally agree.

don't mean to sound repetitive but...

DO THE QUICK BOWLERS MOVE THE BALL AT ALL??

thank you for your understanding8D

Quick bowlers do move the ball, on green wickets the ball can move a fair way making it very very difficult to play your shots...
All bowlers have a rating on how much they swing/Seam/Spin the ball they also have ratings on how they bowl to left and right handers, how effective their slower ball is and how much accuracy/Stamina they have...

Do players like Bond, Shoaib & Lee bowl it very quickly? or is it the same problem like in 2002 where all the fast bowlers bowled the same speed?

Its not like 2002 where the speeds are predictable , (ala if you bowl at the top of the gauge the know it will come out at 151) , fast bowlers average between 137-150 kph & will bowl the occasional 156 delivery.

Fast medium average 129-137 & will bowl the odd 145 ball.

Much more realistic overall.

one of the things that annoys me is that there is a lot of bowlers that hit the 149 - 150kph mark where really there is only a couple

but other than that it is a delight to play

great game ea and i love it

One thing that looks really out of place, though, are the bats... so I've started making my own designs. So far, i've done:

Kookaburra Kahuna (Ponting, Gillespie, Lee)
Kookaburra Diablo (Martyn, Scott Styris)
Kookaburra Sword (Langer)
Slazenger 900 (Mark Waugh???)
Slazenger 800 (Michael Clarke)
Slazengar 1200 (Kallis)
MRF (Waugh, Tendulkar, Lara)
GN Gladius (Hayden, and a few others)
GN Longbow (Symonds... I think)

They all look really cool and make the game 10 times for realistic. Does anyone know what's the go with editing the faces?? I'm sick of Glenn McGrath looking like friggin Darren Gough (*shudder*...).

When I'm finished these bats, can I send them to someone to post in the Cricket 2004 section of Cricket Web???
