I've been wanting more basketball stuff.

Even an AT starting 5 and squad thread.

But the Dream definitely no. 1 here.

In terms of greatest he's behind The Captain, The Big Dipper, Russell and possibly Shaq. But as a centre and how skilled he was, only Kareem was better.

Yeah, The Dream is on a seriously high level so it's not really a competition in that sense.
Arguably the greatest shot blocker and defensive anchor of all time. Kareem and Robinson were insane as well, but Olajuwon was special and ridiculously underrated. And his footwork in the paint, no one comes close.

Its not him, and there’s no argument.

Among the ATG's, the best shot blocker in history.

Yes Eaton had more blocks, think Olajuwon was still deemed a better defensive player.

Did Eaton ever win defensive player of the year? I'll look it up.

How do you define skills? And how is Kareem more skillfull than Wilt?? Wilt better scorer, better rebounder by far and blocked way too many shots.

Yes, Kareem won more championship and all. I mean you value winning very highly and all so you can have him higher. I personally don’t neither for Wilt neither in cricket for someone like Sobers.

Yes I do value winning, so Kareem for me will forever be in the top 2 or 3 all time.

In terms of skill, Kareem had more range, more shots, better footwork, wayyyy better free throw shooter.
Wilt to me, was more if a physically dominant specimen like Shaq.

Wilt didn’t dominant with size like Shaq. Kareem was a better Free throw shooter and shot the hook shot better that is really about it.

I don’t believe Kareem had better footwork, more range or anything. Wilt had fade, finger rolls and had an hook shot of his own plus could actually shoot the ball pretty good except ofc those free throws. Anyway he actually scored more than Kareem and was a better scorer.

And in terms of rebound, shot blocker and defensive player there is basically no arguments to be even made. Wilt was levels above there.

And for my thing regarding winning. I do value winning just not hold it as the only benchmark. I mean give Wilt pre knee surgery someone like Magic, Oscar and he would have more championship too. Kareem himself won nothing for a decade between Oscar and Magic.

Wilt holds all the record and actually anchored the 2 greatest teams of all time in basketball’s history at the time of his retirement. He was more than capable of winning with right persoannal.

Best scorer of all time (arguably)
Best rebounder of all time
Best shot blocker of all time

I just can’t think of anyone other than Wilt as the greatest basketball player of all time.

Olajuwon had an all round game that would translate beautifully to the modern game with a few adjustments imo. He could move his feet on defense better than almost any 7footer of his era and he even had a more than acceptable mid range jumper. His 95 playoff run is better than any of Curry/KD's too. It's a bit of bias at play because of how aesthetically pleasing his game is to me, but I'd put him in the top 7/8 all time.
