Cricketer Of The Year
One of Frank Tyson or Harold Larwood for me.

Charles Kortright deserves a mention. And Eddie Gilbert was a chucker.
Gilbert was called for chucking but subsequently had his action passed by Australia's best umps and the man who previously called him. After reading about him and the controversy I don't think he was a chucker.

Bradman in his book rates Farnes over Larwood and then says Larwood is more likely to get wickets in some contexts than Tiger.
Tbf he said Farnes gave him more problems than Larwood and the unsaid qualifier would have to be bowling without bodyline.

Eddie Gilbert did have a suspicious bowling action, but we can't label him as a chucker since it was not proven that his action was illegal. He was an Aboriginal player who was almost unknown in Australian first class cricket at the time, and he bowled extremely fast. Even Don Bradman said Gilbert was faster than anyone, including Larwood. I also believe that racism played a part in why people accused him chucking - being an Aboriginal cricketer back then meant unfair treatment and prejudice.

"In 1930-31, his debut season, Frank Gough, his Queensland captain, refused to travel if Gilbert accompanied the team. Other team-mates refused to speak to him or tried to run him out. "It's all right to be a hero on the field," he once said, "but a black man can be lonely when he is not accepted after the game." He was repeatedly no-balled for throwing - 13 times in one match at Melbourne in 1931-32 - and slipped into obscurity and a life of alcoholism and mental illness."

Look at this action. Could be hyperextention.

Fred Trueman's speed is underrated, he had international players so terrified while batting they were leaving the wicket open and trying to run to square leg. He didn't even bowl much short normally.

Ian Craig, who faced both Hall and Tyson (the latter albeit not as his fastest), said a spell from Gary Bartlett was the quickest he ever faced.
