English Domestic Season 2025

Mammoth score of 417-6 for Essex, 2-112 for Nathan Barnwell, where does that stand in the list of most expensive innings from a bowler in List A cricket? I know it's just the one run off Mick Lewis' infamous figures in that Aus-SA game, which was an ODI record

Meanwhile Sussex, in a scorcher at Hove, very politely offered Lancs the opportunity to bat first. The results are entirely predictable....

Not a day for boundary catches, Ben Aitchison of Derbyshire denied what looked like a fine relay catch on the boundary which would have given them a squeak against Worcestershire, but a 6 was given and it looks like it's game over

I was standing close by. He stepped on the rope with ball in hand. A 6 was the correct decision.

It was my first visit to Repton, for cricket or otherwise. It is an attractive setting with the old school buildings on one side and trees and a stone wall on others. Derbyshire rather collapsed after Jewell was out and their 315 looked well under par. After D’Oliviera and Libby had settled in, Worcestershire always seemed to have the chase in hand.

While a nice day out overall I had two criticisms. The first was that the pitch was well over to one side of the square which made for an extremely short boundary square on the school side, I would estimate it at around 45 yards. I cannot recall so short a boundary for a county match. There was also a severe shortage of seats with a decent view.

Seems to have been a common complaint at some of these outgrounds
