Mankad's is inflated by bashing NZ and also that just means he sucked that much more in the MO to end up avg 42.
Barlow's stats in AUS is great. Also has a 8 year career (compared to Mankad's 10). Seems underrated in general.

Why didn't he bowl much in tests?

He hit his bowling peak after 1970, before which he was a supporting bowler. Look at his stats in the England vs RoW series, he was the highest wicket taker (or 2nd highest) and his average in that series brought his overall average sub 30!!! Overall, Mankad was still an easily better bowler in my opinion though. Both should not suffer from longevity in general imo, given circumstances.

Eddie Barlow bowling stats in ENG vs RoW (1970):-
20 wickets @19.8; 3 5'fers; only second to Sobers (21 wickets @21.52; 1 5'fer) and out-bowled Procter.

Found the highlights of his 12 wickets in the 4th test, which includes 4 wickets in 5 deliveries (and a Hat trick)
