Defeat against Lancs tonight but at least we took it to the final ball. We threw it away though after such a good start.
Always felt we were short on the runs, remarkable that we took it so deep really. Bowing suddenly looks immense, especially Foulkes and Neesham, but I think we need more explosive men up top in the batting. It’s no good absorbing so many dot balls in the power play.

Aye Lees career SR below table for us and Yorkshire shows we need better.

I also think he's a hopeless captain in this format, gets his bowling choices/changes wrong all the time.

I was shouting out for Ackers to bowl in that middle period against Warks but we didn't see him at all. As was clear you needed spinners and not seamers.

So I couldn't believe he then brought on Ackers 2nd over to the left handers hitting with the breeze into the students. Especially after Foulkes just bowled a class maiden. Supposedly was a data matchup for Wells/Jennings said Campbell :wallbash:

As soon as Lighthouse finished his 3rd I said to bring on Aldridge next at that end, as was clear Sowts wasn't on song cos of the breeze. Also Aldridge had just took 1/4 from that end earlier. So what does Lees do brings Sowts on for the 16th to get splattered and then still doesn't use Aldridge

He's a hopeless captain in all formats if the truth be known.

I will give him a bit of the benefit of the doubt in the CC.

Pitches have been poor and we've had a different attack pretty much every game.
Dont get me wrong he's one of the best openers we've had in our 33 years as a First Class County and I agree about the pitches but his decision making borders on the woeful and its clear hes not a captain.

The CC home game against Warwickshire where they chased down 339 to win after being 90-5 featured some of the worst captaincy since Roseberry and at least he had the excuse that the Riverside wicket was like a minefield back then.
Potts bowling short pitched deliveries with 8 on the boundary allowing the lower order easy runs beggered belief.

There is no chatter (with the exception of Raine) from the players on the field - its like a Quaker meeting at times. You could tell from the body language of the players in the Sunday morning session against Somerset that the side knew they weren't going to win - I dont think I witnessed that under Borthwick. And then there was the Minto dropped catch incident which I imagine wasn't picked up on the stream....he was absolutely devastated and if I'd been skipper I would have been straight over with words of support to the young lad but Lees just stood there with his arms folded and, taking their cue from the captain, so did the rest of the team -not a good look at all It must have been noted on the balcony because when 12th man De Leede came onto the pitch 10 mins later the first thing he did was to have a word with Minto.

And it appears to be affecting his batting - I've lost count how many times he's getting clean bowled. I hope he proves me wrong in the second half of the red ball season but I'm not sure he will.

This years scheduling seems so depressing, it’s June, it’s essentially ‘the height of summer’ and yet Durham have seen a weekend without cricket and have bizarrely only played 3 Blast games whilst others have played 5. I know the scheduling debate is done several times each year, but it’s stupid yet again, certain circles will call for a reduction in games, but they don’t help themselves when there are stretches of nothingness interspersed with periods of wall to wall cricket.

I mean we'd have had a rain impacted draw if it was CC this weekend like and no doubt a D/L loss on our hands if had been T20.

So i'll take it this time. Weather is good for our T20 games for the rest of the week and looking forward to Derbyshire on Wed.

That’s not really the point 😂

they must have changed the points system to four for a win

That’s good as for years I thought the two points for a win , with a point for a rained off game was unfair

especially if there was a tie with a full 20 overs a side getting a point the same as a game where not a ball was bowled

It's 2 points for a no result/draw so its a pointless change. Not sure why they've done it.

Glad your back marra
