GAY HUNDRED!

100* from 205 balls which included 10 fours.

Durham 384-4 (115 overs).
Gay 100*
Robinson 62*
Durham trail by 23 with 78 overs remaining in the day.

The lads are in a great position here, bat until about 5pm, grind the scabs into the dirt and then set about taking 10 wickets.

Gay out now. 5 behind with 5 wickets left.
Absolutely ridiculous dismissal that. 25 minutes before lunch when they were completely bereft of ideas - not sure what was going through his mind. There’s no rush at all from us. We can bat fairly sensibly for another 50 overs and get a lead of over 200.

Not sure of rhe point of batting on now Clark is out.

Unless we're trying to beat our record FC score.

650 now our record score and still batting on. WTF? We can't lose from here so get out there and try to take 10 wickets which won't be easy on this pitch.

Notts 67/1 at stumps, 190 behind.

We could easily have taken another 3 or 4 in that session. Came really close on occasion.

9 to get on a pitch that will.still be flat tomorrow.

At Close of play on Day 1 we were 9/2 with the bookies on the ‘Draw No Bet’ market. This morning on the same market we’re 1/500 😂, Notts are 50/1.

Now clearly, the Draw is the favourite today given how flat the pitch is, but the lads should be commended for taking complete control over the last two days, because I know that a lot of people were concerned about the decision to bowl first and of how poorly it appeared we bowled. In hindsight, to dismiss Notts in just under 93 overs was a great effort - the way in which we were able to take wickets at fairly regular intervals is a positive we can take into today, I’m optimistic too that the pitch is now turning (especially out of the footholes) and offering a bit of variable bounce. With the extra pace that Carse and Yusuf have we should fancy ourselves to cause them problems given that they should be very fresh and be able to run in hard all day giving their lot. I expect a bit of short stuff at varying points throughout the day.

The one criticism I have from this game is that perhaps we batted for just a little too long yesterday, I would’ve preferred us to have declared at Tea. 32 overs at them yesterday would’ve meant we could take the new ball before Tea today should we need to and it would give us more time on the back end to chase whatever total we need to in order to win. That said, given how flat the pitch has played so far, it may not have been a terrible tactic to completely bat them out of the game.

Someone ask Pancho (or maybe the Bot, given they’re running things now) if he’s interested in a deal… Durham win and I get my account back, they don’t and I’ll never trouble him again.

Ha’way Durham

Not had chance to see any play today but 3 wickets this morning is promising.

A few near misses too by the sound if it. Would be great if we could win this.

It’s still very flat, with the ball softening it feels like a gargantuan effort to get the remaining 6 wickets in about 40-45 overs. Hopefully someone can bowl a spell that is world class.

As an aside, I cannot put into words how much I despise this commentary team. The one exception being Ash, but he was always better when he had Marty alongside him.
