Here is a list of Domestic Cricket changes for the Southern Hemisphere for the seasons ahead
India
Duleep Trophy returns to zonal format for 2025-26 domestic season. The competition which is scheduled in August was a 4 team competition (India A-D) is now a 6 team competition (North, South, East, West, Central and North-East).
Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will now include a Super League phase (For the Mens & Womens competition) 32 teams will be divided into 4 groups of 8, the top 2 of each group goes into the Super League where they will play a further 3 matches then the top two will contest the final
Ranji Trophy will feature a Plate competition of just 5 teams (From 6 previously) & the whole competition will be split into two with the one day competition sandwiched in between due to weather factors in parts of india.
Pakistan
Not confirmed yet but they are considering cutting the number of teams from 18 to 9. The PCB feel that there is not enough quality cricket played and not enough players being produced.
Sri Lanka
The first class clubs will be reduced from 26 to 12. The 12 will play in the Major Tier A while the rest will play in Major Tier B which is now not been considered as first class (With a 1 up and 1 down Promotion and relegation system), Overseas players have now been banned from Sri Lankan competition. No matches will be scheduled from September to November due to weather concerns, But the National Super League (Between 6 super teams) will be played instead. Central Contracts have also been added.
No Other changes as of yet (or that i can find) for any other countries have been announced but will be if they are
