Cricket + Wii = Gold.

I am going to break the trend and say it will not work. As a keen follower of cricket games, I will buy a wii if a cricket game comes out on it. But I don't see how the wiimote can impersonate a bat. Surely there is not enough room on the wiimote to hold it and manoever it like a cricket bat. The game would have to take poetic license with the direction of how you move the remote.

Bowling would not work too well either, a lot of bowling is about letting go of the ball and obviously, you cannot let go of the wiimote without breaking something. Without letting go, no swing or spin!
They have games such as Madden where you have to release the ball by throwing it and bowling. i have a Wii, and it would simply be a matter of holding down a button when bowling and releasing the button when you bowl.

The bat would be the same as say a tennis racquet, but I dont think you could get the actual mechanics of batting exactly correct. How would you be able to edge a ball, or hit it off the toe of the bat?

By moving the controller like a bat.

I know that you could move the controller like a bat, but how would you be able to program edges? Or top edges? Lets say you are playing a cricket game on the Wii. The computer hurls down the ball at you and you move the controller like a bat. But what if you mis timed it? Would it be an edge, or just hit in the air?

The same sort of mechanics from Baseball from Wii Sports would be used, I imagine. You can top edge a ball there if you mistime, etc.

Obviously the position and timing of the swing would determine that. Wii baseball is good example of how batting could work quite well in cricket, IMO. You could even tie the Wii remote to your bat handle if you were really keen on it - could see the working.

Bowling, much like pitching in Wii baseball, however, could well become very easy and/or boring.

It could beome boring, but I dont think so. I think that would depend on the AI, and the fact that pitching is boring because baseball is boring :P

I get really frustrated with pitching. It seems no matter what I do they manage to hit home runs. And they never fall for my splitters.

I find the pitching the easiest thing to do on a Wii.

1: bowl a curve ball
(if that goes for a strike you're sorted)
2: bowl a fast ball(bout 150km)
3: bowl a splitter. (cos they have to swing for it)

Now I gave away my tactics I hope I don't play against any of ye:ph34r:
