Well, it looks like EA's offering rocks! (albeit 3 overs worth!)

Batting was a challenge, took me about an hour of attempts to get the Aussie total.. Pietersen has the ability to whack it, unlike the English tail..
Players look extremely lifelike (FIFA standard nearly) although the demo release seems to have a bit of a rough feel on the graphics..
Crowd are awesome, lords looked a picture
Few fielding bugs and funny things, but doesnt appear to be the scale that marred C2004..
Animations are brilliant.. The keeper looks so lifelike, jumping around and whipping the bails off..
I guess the proof of the pudding will be in the more advanced demands on the AI in a longer match
Controls largely the same as C2004, although there looks like you can do more with the bowling (the actions are brilliant), and there is a metre that shows the wear on the ball too..

Just a note to people, the GFX are set to 640*480 with detail on low and no AA.
You can go upto 1024 res with high detail and 4x AA from the display settings by going to My cricket menu option.

Also Kabir Ali is white in the game, whoever did the research should be shot!

I've pre-ordered this along with Brian Lara International Cricket 2005 on the Xbox and from what I have seen C2005 seems the better of the two games.

From the videos I've seen BLIC seems to have weird controls, I think C2005 plays better. At least that is how it has seemed to me from watching the vids.

Langeveldt, could you post some screenshots mate?

Just to let you know if Langveldt is unable to, I plan on uploading a large selection of screen prints from the demo once I've got it downloaded.

From what I have read, people are saying Brian Lara's Cricket is in another league to Cricket 05

Sweet, thanks a lot James.

I've been reading what people have been saying and it's either "It's rubbish, too slow!" or "Massive improvement over C2K4, great graphics!" so the line between good and bad seems to be a bit blurred at the moment.

I've seen a few screens and I have been impressed to be honest. I hope it shuts some of the BLIC fanboys up! They have already condemned C2K5 as rubbish and BLIC are the superior game.

But, as I say I've pre-ordered both games for my Xbox so I am looking forward to comparing the two.

I'm 20% through it now, 1hr and 20 mins to go.

I got to 25% on my 56k connection and it died - must be due to the huge demand for it. :(

Wow, it's really, really nice. It's so much better than the other EA cricket games I've seen it's not even funny.

I can't work out how to get the ball of the square yet, mind you. ;)

Looks pretty impressive, certainly miles better than anything EA have offered in the past. Gameplay is the most important thing, and this appears to be quite adequate.

Batting is fairly simple once you've worked it out, and plenty of different shots can be played from the same delivery, which will hopefully keep the game challenging. Running quick singles is much easier in this version too.
The fielding is the most impressive improvement thus far - looks very natural, especially with the wicketkeeper whipping the bails off instead of waiting for a few seconds. Having said that, I have seen an unnerving number of misfields... though Australia is fielding, I guess. :p Would have preferred to see the fast bowlers in action, or better yet, have a bowl, but I guess I will have to wait.
Will wait for the BLIC demo before making a decision either way, but I expect I will buy both of them, eventually.

Deja vu as KP hits a six off the second-last ball to win the match for England...

The most impressive thing for me was the wide range of shots and realism therein, rather than the usual "pull, cut, drive, block, slog button" approach to cricket games. Just as an example, Symonds drifted on to the leg stump and drops a little short, so I played the backfoot leg glance shot, and Kabir Ali stepped across his stumps to the off-side and glanced it past short-fine leg for a boundary, rather than just knocking it away to the fielders on the leg side as would have happened in Cricket 2002 or 2004.

This is sweet, all very positive. Quite a contrast to the BLIC Forums where the BLIC fanboys are slating it. This bias over there is unbelievable!

I'm really looking forward to playing it on my Xbox. The inclusion of domestic teams and the official licensing of the Twenty20 competition excites me.
