Comparing Modern Openers

Line and Length

International Coach
In all, there are 8 openers who have scored over 8,000 runs. If we look beyond their total averages we see some interesting facts when comparing theor home and away records. Nor surprisingly, Dave Warner has the best home record and the worst away record of the 8 openers. Conversely, Graeme Smith has the worst home record and best away record. Only one player, Sunil Gavaskar, averages over 50 both at home and away. Gavaskar. Boycott and Cook are arguably the most consistent over home and away fixtures.
The following table sets out the 8 openers' records.

So Warner almost averages double in home compared to away..... I remembered his numbers being disproportionately but not to this extent....

Greenidge didn’t fit his 8000 runs criteria. Its not ordered in terms of how he rates them either.
I know.

But it is relevant to thread title which is comparison of the modern openers, and I found it interesting that yeah, vast majority of the time, very strong correlation between better average to better player.
