Don't think so honestly. Think Nayudu was clearly a superior batsman.
The opposite was generally considered true at the time, as reflected in their FC numbers. Lala was considered much more naturally gifted and a great strokemaker where as Nayudu would get in there with more of a never-say-die attitude. He wasn't considered exceptional even in the domestic scene.

I don't think you'll find too many cricket historians saying that Nayudu was the better bat between the two.

Nayudu has a much longer career though, way too long. It's interesting since most sources I have read rated Nayudu really highly, though I think he's tendency to hit big 6s is a significant factor for that. And Lala's Test batting numbers just suck, as does his English FC numbers (Peterhrt posted them sometime ago, was 25ish).

1413@27.5 in England
248@24 in Unofficial Tests

But a Big silver lining,

1153@58.5 in Australia (though everyone looks to have scored heaps in Australian FC games around that period).

Provide the bowling stats as well, I reckon it's good.

Amarnath, actually a successful Indian pacer in Australia and England of all places.
