Best player never to have got a Test double ton?

Sooo many that could qualify TBH, most already named. Sutcliffe certainly right up there I'd guess.

I'd only go for those who played during "the Test era" (ie, 1902 onwards) and those who had a decent chance to (eg, not Barry Richards).

If that's Keith Fletcher he made a Test double century.

Have always thought Jacques Kallis and Michael Vaughan were desperately unlucky not to have struck double centuries, especially when the likes of Gillespie, Vincent and Sinclair have all scored one in recent times.

To be honest, the fact that Kallis hasn't made a double ton is why I rate him above Dravid - none of those insanely high scores to inflate his average.

Its amazing he can average 58 without a 200 or 300 to increase it.

ITSTL. While Kallis could be considered to be above Dravid in the last 6 years for precisely that reason - astounding consistency (though Dravid's hardly been abysmal either) I'd rate Dravid the better of the pair easily due to the fact he averaged 54 between his 1996 debut and 2001, while Kallis (when you remove his first few abysmal games) averaged just 44.

Kallis was a good Test batsman in said time; Dravid was an exceptional one. And when it comes to bashing weak bowling, they're both phenominal.

Very interesting reasoning there. Seems as though you rate Kallis higher, despite not having the concentration of Rahul Dravid to make those big scores.

It takes talent and application to score a 200 or 300. If you're going to argue that, you may as well remove not outs then.

That being said, I love Kallis, and his lack of a double ton is one of the most confusing things I've ever seen in cricket. Just makes no sense for a guy who can apply himself when batting, and focus so well.
