BCCI Announce Contracts

I can't beleive Irfan Pathan managed to retain his Grade B contract and Zaheer is still considered as Grade C, but it's good to see that Yuvraj and Dhoni are being looked after. Mohammad Kaif must feel hard done by.

BCCI crap as usual. Then again, Kaif hasn't been selected lately so he can't possibly expect a contract ...

These grades are most confusing and one must only think that a large portion of these are based around also how much they figure in future plans for the team.

It's funny back in 03/04 and during India's tour of Australia (and really when this site took off as the force that it is) people were commenting on how Pathan was the next Wasim Akram (in some respects you can't blame them as he looked the goods and they do not have crystal balls AFAIK), and look at him now. He is only a young lad so who knows? Perhaps they see him with potential and are making that call solely on that as he has plenty of time. That said I'm surprised that AA has kept his contract. I don't think one can dispute his talent, especially when one remembers how well he came onto the ODI scene (IIRC he was one of the quickest guys to get 50 ODI wickets), but has just never been managed properly, whether or not it is down to coaching I don't know.

As for Mohammad Kaif, it looks as though he is one of the players who gets screwed around like Brad Hodge, Mathew Sinclair, Neil McKenzie which is really quite sad.
