Sehwag 201 maybe cause a destructive double on a minefield against Murali and Mendis. In 1981 Marshall wasn’t peak Marshall.
Lara 277, big score and against Warne.
Clarke 151, destructive on a horrid pitch vs Steyn, Philander and Morkel

Lara 277> Tendulkar 114. Better one to watch though the pitch was a road.

Hughes 100> Sehwag 201. Probably the toughest test innings of all time considering pitch and the opposition.

Gooch 154> Stokes 135(I think this is what you meant). Stokes was great but Gooch's innings has a stronger argument for being the single greatest innings of all time.

Dravid fifties > Waugh twin tons. That pitch was atrocious and ideal for a guy like Taylor to cause problems.

Clarke 151> Mahmood 132. Mahmoods innings though great had several more moments of good fortune. Clarke's was maybe the best innings I've ever watched live in terms of how one batsman looked like he was batting on a completely different pitch as the others. Insane knock and is underrated because of how Australia collapsed later.

Thanks. I think Tendulkars was more exceptional though given he was a teen and a tough pitch I have never seen a better innings in terms of strokeplay than Lara's.

Waugh's knocks were on a pretty tough pitch too so I think it's close.

What about Fredericks vs Gilly?
