Batting Blockathon - Mission Impossible

Johan

Against the WI quartet mixed record, no real series success against Lillee and Hadlee. Great against Imran. Mostly ordinary in England. That's his summary.
I think anything above 40+ is very good against Windies, being an opener adds even further points.

Sure fair enough. Though as mention that includes an unbeaten double ton on a flat track with eschews things. But it happens.

I still have Gavaskar in my top ten bats. I said his record was a tad underwhelming. It's not the level you need to freak out on.
You literally said his and Javed's away record is a toss up and his record to WI pace battery is inflated by a double ton on flat track with eschews things.

My odds:

Waugh 2.5/10 (question over him playing spin but he was very dogged)

Border 3/10 (same as Waugh but slightly better against spin)

ABD 3.5/10 (already shown capable of super patience and skill against any bowling)

Viv 2.5/10 (I don't think he has the patience and will likely hit out and lose his wicket after getting a fifty).

Smith 2.5/10 (great mental application but not as proven against these types of bowlers)

Tendulkar 3/10 (same as Smith but more experience against top bowling but not as proven at blockathon as ABD)

Lara 2.5/10 (likely struggles to survive against Steyn and Garner)

Isn't it weird that he thinks ABD has a higher chance of surviving than any of these guys because he survived against bowlers who he thinks aren't even ATGs? I may be wrong tho.

Ashwin and Jadeja on those pitches are an ATG level threat, never disputed this. Which is why I rate Smith 2017 in India as ATG.

I do not rate both of them as ATGs.

But on Indian rank turners they are probably tougher to face than any ATG pacer in any place.

P. S : Only the legendary Imran Khan bowling in Pakistan with home umpires and bottle cap is arguably better 😜
