Better Batsman

DrWolverine

International Vice-Captain
This is not a fair comparison

Joe Root is arguably one of the top 10 batsmen since 1970 and Barry Richards played a total of 4 Tests

Johan

International Coach
Anderson ahead of Barnes at least?
No, because Barnes had a test career expanding years and is more than proven on the highest level.

also, I didn't say Root is better because of how much he played, just that one played so much more on the highest level it's hard to compare.

ma1978

International Debutant
Root not or top 10 yet but he at least had a test career unlike Barry Richards who could have been the greatest test opener of all time (or not)

Tendulkar
Lara
Richards
Smith
Ponting
Gavaskar
Sangakkara
Border
Waugh
Kallis
Dravid

all still ahead of Root

all the highlighted comments are ones Root is very debateable with, don't like commenting on Border or Waugh.
