Nah, you are. If you rate someone more highly than the rest of the population and think he should be picked for higher honours, then you're a fan. Nothing wrong with that of course but it's true.

Ha na man. I dont rate him more highly than Johnson, Siddle, Hilfy & Lee for example, but rather everyone other fast-bowling option for AUS atm. I just support his abilities & think he shouldn't be just a T20 specialist.

Most of the cricketers i am/was true fans of have already retired anyway. Just maybe Flintoff & Ponting are left..

I think you become a fan when it's evident you think x is a much better batsman than most other people seem to.

Only when he starts ranting to that effect in a fanatical manner.

I'll try to put it in another way I just thought of.

I am a bigger Tendulkar fan than a Lara fan. Yet, I think Lara>Tendulkar in the 90s.
