Mashrafe takes over.What if Ashraful doesn't grow-up?
Yeah but don't see many other options. It wouldn't have been a good idea to have separate captains.I can't see this move working very well, especially with how immature Ashraful is with his batting. Bashar was one of the best Test batsman (if not the best) that Bangladesh have had, and it's a shame to see him go like this. I doubt he'll be selected as a specialist bat, especially in the ODI's.
Deal with it and move on to Mortaza, Nafees, Rahim, etc. This team can only go so far with Bashar leading the way - may as well take a shot considering the potential reward. What if Ashraful doesn't grow-up?
Daniel Vettori has captained the Black Caps a couple of times.why is it that most captains are batsmen? the only captaions I can recall being bolwer was shaun pollock and streak, any other in recent times?
Back up to Stephen Fleming. Generally it is because captains who are bowlers tend to underbowl or overbowl themselves, rather than a batsman who is captaining the side from a pretty good neutral position.was the like full time or as back up? but is there any particular reason for batsmen being cpatians over bowlers?
. Bashar was one of the best Test batsman (if not the best) that Bangladesh have had, .
It doesn't matter, he has done a pretty damn good job for Bangladesh. Averaging 35 or something I think, which is no mean feat in a team that gets continually beaten.its not excactly like they have had much better to choose frome ave they??
Yeah, he's got the highest average of all Bangladeshi batsmen to have played over 20 innings. Along with Mortaza and maybe Rafique you'd say he's one of the only players in the team who'd have a shot in other countries. It doesn't matter, he has done a pretty damn good job for Bangladesh. To keep the ODI captaincy is to keep a better batsman and player out of the side. Guys like Rajin Saleh were missing out with Bashar as the captain and Saleh is a much better ODI batsman than the former captain, yet he couldn't get a game recently because Bashar was taking up his spot.I don't think he should have given up this ODI captaincy, but he just did that in the heat of the big defea which wasn't even in ODI's. They should have just kept him as specialist captain in ODI for what it's worth because of the lack of experience in the team. One other thing they could have to done iin short terms was give it to Rafique for a little while to give Ashraful or Mortaza to get ready for it being vice captian.
Ashraful has had a stint as vice-captain before I think, but don't quote me on that one. I agree that age is irrelevant but just pointing out the fact that he probably won't be around for much longer, so to give the captaincy to him would be a poor decision as it does not allow for development and forward planning.well age shouldn't matter since the's still doing well, and that should be kind of a short term job for him until he retires and Ashraful or who ever would get a change to get more experience as a vice captain, which he jus recently got.
And must be about a 99% chance of taking over the ODI captaincy permanently.Daniel Vettori has captained the Black Caps a couple of times.
