Will just be off for me if there’s a gap between Tayfield and the likes of Ashwin, Verity, Grimmett and Laker, a group of bowlers to which he most certainly belongs
Tayfield>Verity for me and I don't think there's any gap either. At best can argue Grimmett is the best clearly, but not by a big margin

Nah no one hates NZ except @trundler. You're just someone with a massive bias towards that amazing team, 1980s England. Gower is comfortably worse than Cook, and comparing either Crowe or Kohli to Cook is a hate crime.
What are the factors that make Crowe so far superior to Cook? I agree Crowe is far superior to Cook by the way, I just want to understand your logic behind that placement.

I rate Cook significantly higher than most and Crowe slightly lower than most, but Crowe had an elite peak and was unlucky with how few games he played at home. It can be forgotten that their careers were the same length.

on ability I think Crowe is well ahead of even Kohli and would've ended with an easy 50+ average with 8,000+ runs if not playing for an incompetent ass board who couldn't take care of his health, especially the knees. Though the end result of what he achieved is not so different than Gower, who himself is an underachiever.

When Murdoch was a full time keeper he was rated as highly as any. Spofforth once refused to play in a match when Blackham was given the gloves over him, because he felt Billy was better.
Didn't know that lol. I voted for him for his batting on the assumption that in that era he had to be a good keeper to have the gloves.

And also because I've been voting an absurd number of Seeth Africans. Any of Cameron/Wade/Waite/Lindsay/de Kock have reasonable claims here lol.

I won't stand for this Percy Sherwell erasure

Just wondering. Any thought of opening with Rhodes and moving Merchant or Gooch to the middle order with everyone moving down one?
Not impractical, but when Rhodes opened he was a batting allrounder. In fact, borderline a batsman who bowled part time. Don't think that's close to the level output we should receive from our No 1 spinner with the ball.
