Dude, is someone holding you at gunpoint, if you don't give the "consensus" Test XI picks from each of these eras, and is about to ask you to give an exam paper on it shortly?

Otherwise, calm down, no one owes you an explanation on any of this ****. And if you care to research it that deeply, you'll realize that the whole Cricket Chat forum has been giving their opinions and developing consensus on ATG Test players for the last couple of decades. Just use the "Search" feature. 8-)

I am just excited to see some real Super Knowledgeable guys here wanted to know their opinion. They have done a lot of research so just want to know their opinion as I have been researching this stuff for quite sometime. It will be great if they solve my questions. Like I was never been able to come to a conclusion between who was better Kapil or Botham ?, it’s very debatable as lot of factors go into it and no one can come to an exact conclusion. I just showed some numbers from Cricinfo website but sometimes numbers don’t do justice. So it’s a good debate platform where you have different point of views coming up which is not a bad activity.

I believe its a generally accepted consensus on here that Botham > Kapil

I believe its a generally accepted consensus on here that Botham > Kapil
yeah i understand first impression is best impression. Just looking at Botham's performances in Ashes
1) He made his debut in 1977 Ashes 3rd Test when England Leading the Series 1-0 and took five wickets in his first innings and took another 5 wickets in 4th test in first innings and England won both 3rd and 4th test and won the Ashes 3-0.
2) Played a good Allrounder's role by scoring 291 with bat (3rd highest for England) and took 23 wickets (highest number for England) and played a crucial role in 5-1 series win for England.
3) 1981 Ashes Botham was the King Famously called "Botham's Ashes"
4) 1985 Ashes botham took highest number of wickets 31 and was also good with the bat with an average of 31.25.
5) 1986 Ashes Botham player of the Match for First Test win giving England 1-0 lead, took 5 wickets in the 4th test in the first innings and played crucial part in 2nd win in the series for England. England won the series 2-1.

So Ian Botham was the backbone for England Dominating Australia in Ashes for a decade from 1977 to 1987
1) England Won 17 Matches in this period compared to only 6 Wins for Australia
2) England won 5 Series and Australia only 1 (with a minor lead of 2-1)

England media has every reason to Worship this guy as their Celebrity.

In Ashes History we can call 1977-1987 as Botham's Decade

I wanted to take Barry Richards and Mike Procter but didn't as they never proved their talent unfortunately on International Stage but i can change my mind if someone can give a good feedback

you have to include Maurice Tate he was a very successful medium pace bowling allrounder in 1930s, you can't include Hutton as he played only 21 innings out of 138 innings in 1930s.

You sure you don’t mean Jack Gregory? Who the **** is Ross Gregory
Jack Gregory enters a haunted forest, an unseen force pursues Jack into a windmill, and he crashes into a mirror. Small reflections of Jack in the mirror shards come to life and antagonize him, with one becoming a life-sized copy of him and he names it Ross Gregory
