don’t know where to start – got back from the jungle yday. absolutely roasting up there. about 10,000 people came to watch us play. people were grabbing us on the boundary. 152 off 121 balls, brought the MMi out for the powerplay. lost 1kg from start to finish of innings. there are no roads there because of the war, you just drive through dirt tracks with massive bomb craters for hours. stayed in a SL army camp on monday night, sleeping on a mat on a veranda in front of a swamp. could not sleep because of all the creatures crawling all over me. then we visited the tamil tigers base camp, cut out of the jungle, underground escape tunnels, weapons stores, suicide bomber boats. a totally bizarre experience. cricket in jaffna. nothing like it i imagine.

i think there were some journalists there – but no idea how you write anything about that or take pictures. the crowd were swarming everywhere and believe me there is no such thing as a media centre up there. there was the shell of a bus that had been blown to bits by a suicide bomber. that was as close to a building as there was. we changed under a tarpaulin held together by two sticks.

back to business – any news from zubin or punjab?? and also i heard somewhere that collingwood is going to have a knee op after WC? which surely means he will miss IPL with rajasthan?? what is the best way to approach manoj about that? zubin has a close relationship with him. i would have thought i am a like for like replacement for collingwood in many ways, and substantially cheaper.
Love this email he wrote about a supposed game he played in Sri Lanka

The fiction regarding the innings and the thousands of people watching him in a tamil tigers camp in the jungle is amazing obviously, but the best part is where he says he's a like for like replacement for Collingwood

wonder if he would have gotten away with it if he compared himself to players like ronnie irani instead of the top names

I like how the bus was blown up by a suicide bomber, like the Tamil Tigers decided to blow themselves up inside their own territory and they told this to him.

If you're trying to get into the IPL saying you're like Ronnie Irani is unlikely to get the desired result

The guy who owned RR around this time, or at least one of the owners, has been busted for running a porn racquet. Maybe Adrian, in all his infinite wisdom, should have seen that and gotten around that route to get into the side. :p
