Well I for one always enjoy the early season Marsh Cup games, although admittedly I am not exactly representative of the average Australian cricket follower

Certainly right to say the selectors don't really put much stock into performances there (hellooooooo there Daniel Hughes), but I for one am glad the tournament hasn't been done away with entirely

Yeah the Mercantile Mutual Cup and ING Cup were a real staple in getting me interested in cricket as a kid so I will always have a bit of an attachment to it.

NSW is the only cricket team I really genuinely and consistently support as a fan too. I'm pretty fickle in how much I care about other teams winning or losing.

So I'm biased, but I do think we need to keep it even if selectors don't care about performances in it. You don't want players making their ODI debuts having not played 50 over cricket for 6 years and the highest standard they've ever done it in being grade cricket.

disappointed there's no sydney games at Drummoyne Oval this time around. The game at the new CNSW facilities in Homebush will be nice though.
A team will go close to 400 at North Sydney Oval imo

As a new North Sydney resident I'll probably walk over there this season. Keen.

Hopefully Dan Smith is recalled.

And Scott Coyte. Especially Scott Coyte.

You'll get to see Dan Hughes score yet another ton that only us at CW will see, yet again
I have never actually seen him do that in person, but I'll sure he'll manage it at NSO unless he's dropped for Dan Smith in a shock horses for courses move.

I remember the days when you had to actually *pay* to get into ING Cup games. What a wild era I grew up in!

South Australia 2nds playing against QLD 2nds right now. Last innings and the Queenslanders need 243 to get

A few noteworthy performances. Fraser-McGurk made a run a ball ton in the first innings, and an even quicker 80odd in the second. Know he isn't everyones cup of the here, but if he keeps going that then I would be glad to have him here. Buckingham took 4 in the first South Australian bowling innings, Aubery Stockdale who has moved here from Queensland took two and appeared (although it is hard to tell with the camera angle) to bowl with some good pace. From a bananabender point of view, Jack Clayton made 96 and Jack Wildermuth has picked up a few wickets

Yeah, he's playing. 36 in the first dig, didn't really get much of a chance with the ball though
Yeah, nice. Cheers for the update

That's interesting about the bowling, as I think he's a better bowler than Liam Scott (who I'm presuming is the player he would be competing with at this stage of his career)

come a long way from good old NDs
