Its the annoying thing... the inability of this management or the management before, to try something else. Stokes does it all the time. Other captains do it now and then. Indian captains and coaches almost never do it. Shastri talks a lot about it but I recall seeing just about zero proactive moves in terms of getting spinners on early etc, outside of the few times they got Ashwin on first change, even during his time. It just seems the pressure and scrutiny of the Indian media on cricket makes these guys take very little or basically no risks.

Even if you bowl the seamers, it's not clear to me with this field how they intend on getting him out. It seems like Gill wants them bowling outside off stump but then there's not the catchers in place to make that threatening
