5) centre circles - why do they still exist?
4) central business districts - walking around soulless identikit sky-scrapers not my thing
3) Harlow town centre - just look it up on Google street view
2) central time zone - the worst bits of the US
1) The Centre-Right - destroyed the ****ing world over the past five decades.

Basildon and Portsmouth.

I used to live less than 20 miles from Harlow but, I think it tells you something, I have never been to Harlow town centre.

Harlow is a dump still but a lot being spent doing it up so may be different in a coupie years and old harlow sought after. Hatfield, fair enough. Hemel Hempstead is harsh as that is nice and the town centre cricket club is lovely (unless your driving in the road behind the screens).
Pompey is sound and a nice bay with gosport the order side and Bas vegas is a top night out

The town centres of Hatfield and Hemel Hempstead immediately spring to mind.
Yeah Hertfordshire doesn't do great when it comes to town centres. Haven't even mentioned Stevenage, while Welwyn and Letchworth Garden Cities aren't much to write home about either.

I'm not talking about the towns as a whole, but the Town Centre. The sea front at Portsmouth is not the town centre. Basildon is the only town I've ever been to where there was a random curfew in the town centre. It was a **** heap at the time and most of the nightlife was at the out-of-town complex.

Most uk town centres ie shopping precincts are the same. Saw someone dragging off Brighton as a dump the other day which is odd as it's one of the most expensive towns for houses anywhere outside London.

They are pretty much identikit but I would say Stevenage is the worst of those. Largely because the local populace seem to be the scummiest of those three. I did live in Hertfordshire for a few years, so that's my evaluation after spending a reasonable amount of time at each.

Hertfordshire is great if the only town you set foot in is St Albans.

Although St Albans is full of children with wanky names like Tarquin and Cecily (and the parents who have given them these names, ofc).

Would be interested to know where all the negative commenters call home
When I lived in Hertfordshire, Baldock was my home, but for the vast majority of my life I've largely lived in London, especially East London. Yes, it used to be pretty bad but plenty of parts have been regenerated quite well. The aforementioned 'new' towns have very mediocre 1950s post war architecture that hasn't stood the test of time.
