Yep that's what I've heard too.At the beginning of the series the talk was of him hopefully playing in that match but it's not going to happen.I think I heard on the radio earlier today that Wood won't be fit enough for The Oval after all.

The Indian management were always adamant that Bumrah would only play 3 Tests, it will be interesting to see if they stick to that if they can draw but not win the series at the OvalIf its a draw then I think you have to punt Bumrah especially as Kambooj and Krishna haven't look good unfortunately.
Bumrah at 70% will always merit a place in this team.
Siraj must also be quite tired though .
Coming back after 8 years was always going to be a stiff ask. He's definitely a lot better than Bashir in terms of threatening the edge. His batting also provides some depth in the lower order. The problem is that this pitch has pretty much set him up to fail. What do we think of Dawson's performance today? I've not seen any of it, so all I know is he hasn't taken any wickets on a Day 4 & 5 wicket. And that he's been economical, but that's against a side playing for the draw. Maybe I'm being unfair.
Root has looked a more threatening spinner. What do we think of Dawson's performance today? I've not seen any of it, so all I know is he hasn't taken any wickets on a Day 4 & 5 wicket. And that he's been economical, but that's against a side playing for the draw. Maybe I'm being unfair.
Hasn't hit the rough much, is a bit flat. Doesn't get the kind of bounce a taller spinner would. What do we think of Dawson's performance today? Spinning it away vs the lefties + giving it more air. Almost has the license to throw it up because they're not banking on him to hold up an end. Dawson sort of has to be more disciplined.Root has looked a more threatening spinner.
I like Potts, but he seems to be out of the reckoning considering Cook and Overton have played/been named in squads over him. I think the management have pigeonholed Woakes, Potts and Cook as the sort of slower, traditional English bowler in this team to fight out for one place in the team, and while in an ideal world I wouldn’t have Woakes in the team anymore, he’s not been the worst England bowler this Test at allI'd forgotten about Tongue actually. I was thinking Atkinson and Potts. Maybe two of those three.
Hasn't been threatening really but has been economical.Just over 2 an over. What do we think of Dawson's performance today? I've not seen any of it, so all I know is he hasn't taken any wickets on a Day 4 & 5 wicket. And that he's been economical, but that's against a side playing for the draw. Maybe I'm being unfair.
Has to play else that, and you'd imagine there will be more such in the future, will be a huge asterisk next to his overall reckoning in the ATG stakes. The Indian management were always adamant that Bumrah would only play 3 Tests, it will be interesting to see if they stick to that if they can draw but not win the series at the Oval
Is that Jamie Overton? I can't say I rate him.I like Potts, but he seems to be out of the reckoning considering Cook and Overton have played/been named in squads over him. I'm not sure the English management are sold on CookI like Potts, but he seems to be out of the reckoning considering Cook and Overton have played/been named in squads over him. Most countries’ management will place a lot of value on economy, but I don’t think Ben and Baz will, I don’t think Bashir has much to fearWhat do we think of Dawson's performance today? I've not seen any of it, so all I know is he hasn't taken any wickets on a Day 4 & 5 wicket. And that he's been economical, but that's against a side playing for the draw. Maybe I'm being unfair.
I don't rate Tongue.I'd forgotten about Tongue actually. I was thinking Atkinson and Potts. Maybe two of those three.
Economical (no Pant to deal with, mind) but not much more. What do we think of Dawson's performance today? I've not seen any of it, so all I know is he hasn't taken any wickets on a Day 4 & 5 wicket. And that he's been economical, but that's against a side playing for the draw. Maybe I'm being unfair.
Yep, was in the squad earlier in the series but once Archer and Atkinson were named in the squad, he’s gone back to Surrey. Bowled well against the Windies in the white ball series before ****ing his finger up, but I’m not overly keen on himIs that Jamie Overton? I can't say I rate him.
That's not what she saidI don't rate Tongue.
Woakes has played all 4 Tests so far despite looking like he’s lost a step, Cook played against Zimbabwe and was in the squad earlier in the series ahead of Potts, I agree that they don’t seem overly keen on Cook, which must mean that they’re even less keen on PottsI'm not sure the English management are sold on Cook
