3rd Test (Lord’s) - 10 July to 14 July

Hot weekend in London too. If you're not going to play your best spinner in conditions as ideal as they're likely to get in SENA, then you may as well put up an Abandon All Hope clause in your spinner contracts. Kuldeep Yadav is 30 years old and has played all of 13 Tests. Let that sink in.

Has a five-wicket haul in Australia but can't get a game in England, not that I am complaining.

Not surprised Atkinson isn’t playing considering his injury record, I am a bit surprised Carse is still playing, I would have thought Overton would come in for him
Yeah I agree. I reckon if Atkinson had been fit to go and/or the selectors had more faith in Overton or Cook, Carse would have been rested for sure. Hopefully the pitch isn't so flat as it's a pretty patched together attack we're fielding (plus an ineffective Bashir).

Cook seems to be pigeonholed as the Woakes replacement on account of his speed, I’m not sure why, as it’s not as though the likes of Atkinson and Overton are THAT much quicker than Woakes (albeit he has slowed down a bit of late). Not sure they have that much faith in Overton as a Test bowler, he has played once in 2022 where a memorable batting display covered up a mediocre bowling one (I don’t think he’s even been in a squad since?) and when it looked as though a chance had arrived, they still bench him

Gus is probably not fully fit yet.
Shocked Carse has not been rested, I thought he was struggling with his foot at Edgbaston.

Would loved to see him play both but team management might not want repeat of Sydney test

Emilio Gay is now playing for Italy, just a few weeks after playing for Eng Lions vs Ind A.... Probably should have kept him in instead of Crawley no?

So Archer in for Tongue the 1 seemingly fit bowler whos taken the most wkts for england. Baz reportedly wants a pacy pitch, lets hope the lords ignore him as Indias quicks are all fit and form, unlike englands.

The all-rounder GOATs of our generation in Woakes and Reddy didn't really cover themselves in glory. Personal bias aside I still think it would be crazy to drop a player as young as Reddy after bringing him in just for one match.
