Archer very much is an idea and a promise from the 2019 Ashes. I guess this would be his last go, if he can be properly affective and deliver on even an ounce of the promise he displayed back in 2019, I guess he can stay as long as he's healthy. If not, it's probably time to move on from him.

Considering his most recent injury was an impact injury rather than a non-impact injury, and considering he had been a regular in the white-ball set-up and in the IPL for a while before that, I don’t think it’s quite last-chance saloon for Archer

If conditions are dry, then Kuldeep definitely comes into it, especially the 2nd inns.

I'd go for Sai over Jadeja, but not picking Akashdeep would be a crime against humanity. Siraj can come in for one of Prasidh/Arshdeep

If Bumrah can strictly play only 3 tests, he should play the first 3. Even if India goes on to lose the first 3 tests, the dead rubbers can be played by the other pacers. But if Bumrah can help win the tests, then the other pacers can try sustaining it.

Without Bumrah, there is almost zero chance of India winning the next two tests.

I mean its not the number 3 that matters. Its workload management. I just think we have to accept that Bumrah cant play back to back tests and move on with that knowledge.

He can play back to back tests as long as he is not bowling like 40-50 overs in the test.

If his workload is around 30-35 overs, he can definitely play back to back. I fully expect him to do so in such situations and especially in India.

Monumentally important match for India because if the wheels fall off here they likely aren't coming back on.
They need some stability down the order though because they can't afford to fall like flies once the 5th wicket falls.
Hope they think of Reddy for that stability because he showed some strong signs in his first series against the Aussies.
