Indeed he is, this is the best side we could put out at the moment with Atkinson, Wood and Archer all out. Tongue hasn’t looked stellar on England or Lions duty of late, but Carse and Woakes should do well

Carse and Tongue seem a bit too similar. Two hit the deck bowlers. New ball could be wasted.

Why? It's going to be hot sunshine for 5 days. Why would you offer Indian spinners a 4th innings bowl on a dry pitch?

That's probably why you wouldn't pick Woakes and Cook in the same team. If it was more 'traditional' Headingley weather, you would consider it more. The lack of experience of bowlers not called CR Woakes is rather concerning and the fact that Tongue has barely played much cricket since a year out is also a worry.

Why not? I know it might not be good to use Stokes a lot but is Tongue that much better with the new ball than him? Think it's the sort of thing he might try sometime this series, if anything.

We've just gotta make sure we don't go behind in this series. Don't want the Indians getting a lead then making up pathetic excuses to fly home to try and claim a series win like the last time they were over here

Is it really Pope who is some pressure with Bethell there, or Crawley ? :)
Dropping the batter who struggles the most would make sense no? If this means room for both Pope & Bethell. It would just mean a reshuffle of the batting order, like promoting Stokes or Smith to open with Duckett.
