Why couldn't Prasidh have figured out how to bowl like this sooner. Zzz.

He's 29, so these should be his best years. He needs to keep producing spells like this.

Undoubtedly Bumrah is showing the strains of the over reliance India have on him. But it's a fair question to ask why fitness and schedules are only a problem for international cricket but never domestic T20 matches. A number of these guys could have skipped IPL to rest (including Bumrah), or at least play a few matches of county cricket to adapt to English conditions similar to what the Australians did prior to the WTC final/Ashes in 2023. That there is even a consideration to increase the number of IPL games doesn't bode well for future India tours overseas, as far as winning test matches is concerned.

Even in the Kohli/Shastri era, the lack of preparation for the 2018 England test series was staggering, and it showed in their bang average batting performance apart from Kohli. Though there were some genuinely hapless batsmen like Vijay, Shikhar, and DK in that side.

Whatever happened to the mentality that won India the England test series in 2007 under Dravid?

A complete waste of space at the moment. At this rate I'd rather play Nitish Kumar Reddy, who performed in the BGT and is a fresher face with loads of potential.
Selectors and team failed to recognize Shardul as the fluke he was and got duped into a false sense of security for SENA tours thinking they had a readymade seamer-allrounder they could call upon when the time came.

Quite smart for Duckett to be batting so deep in his crease against Prasidh. That plus his height forces Prasidh to go even fuller which he isn’t used to at all.

Get Ishant in to bowl a few bumpers and hope they self implode like 2014 Lords imo
Don't joke about 2014!

Bhuvi, Shami, Jadeja, BINNY! (obviously better 10 years ago!) and Ishant along with erm Dhawan and Vijay bowling!

Better all round bowling line up than this one man mob.

Jadeja and Shardul have been utterly useless. Get Reddy and Kuldeep in the next game, please. Don't care if Kuldeep gets smashed, he deserves a run of games ffs. Would be a complete tragedy if he's not given a go and his career just floats away into the ether.

Bhuvi WAFG. Vital runs in both innings and a 6-fer. How on earth did Ishant rob MotM ffs.

There is not only what selectors think, also what the captain makes of it. If Gill is not going to use him, why pick him? Not sure if the comparison is right, but reminds me of Dhoni not using Stuart Binny.

I dont really agree. He played really really well in Ranji and looked pretty good in the IPL. The thing is, if you pick him, you give him the best chance of success at the role he is picked for, which is a bowler who can bat. His primary job is still to bowl and get wickets. And with the attack we had this game, and with Siraj not being at his best, I would have still tried Shardul up the hill with the new ball with Bumrah at the other end. When you basically shut a bowler out of the attack, it does not exactly give much of an endorsement and begs the question, why play him anyways if you rate his bowling to be this poor? I mean, I can see NKR getting more overs here than Shardul has.
