Masters XI v Cricket Web Colts
Casston Reserve

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

All the improvements shown by the Masters XI on the weekend paid off with a 9-wicket win in the one-day leg. An unbroken partnership of 129 runs between Wavell Hinds and Brian Lara left the Colts helpless as they failed to defend a small target of 173.

It was another dismal showing by CW Colts, who failed to make use of the good batting conditions after winning the toss. Though Arunava Das (45) and Chris Butler (26) looked threatening, none of the batsmen managed to dominate at any stage. Wickets tumbled after the fall of the third wicket, and young Griffen (34 not out) was forced to hold the innings together and helped push the score to 172 all out.

It looked a totally different pitch when the Masters XI came to the crease. Though Bochat picked up Damien Martyn (12) early on, the Masters XI had already moved comfortably to 45-1 in the 10th over. Jasotharan took the catch, but he was not so competent as he floored a sitter off Lara on 30. It was a frustrating miss, particularly as there were no more chances on offer by the West Indian pairing. Hinds got to 50 from 73 balls, then Lara reached his from 77. With victory in sight Lara swung David Pares casually over midwicket for six and the Masters XI cruised to victory with 10.4 overs to spare.

Cricket Web Colts innings 172 (40 overs)
AS Das 45 (48), J Griffen 34* (58), CR Butler 26 (34)
SK Warne 3-39 (9), L Klusener 2-38 (8), HH Streak 2-39 (8)

Masters XI innings 173-1 (39.4 overs)
BC Lara 76*, WW Hinds 71* (102)
T Bochat 1-34 (10)

Masters XI won by 9 wickets.
Man of the Match: BC Lara (Masters)

Cricket Web Green v Cricket Web Red
CWBCC Stadium

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

After a tight contest between two evenly matched teams, Cricket Web Green pulled away to a comfortable 6-wicket win at the CWBCC Stadium. The game was well poised with CW Green needing 111 runs with 7 wickets in hand.

The Reds were undone by an excellent team effort with the ball. CW Green were led by Xavier Rose, who snatched the top three wickets in quick time, and finished with 4 for 26. Although eight batsmen reached double figures, captain Mork was topscorer with a disappointing 22. After the early damage by the pacers, the Reds could not come to terms with the CW Green spinners, and were all out with 6 overs due to be bowled.

There was still no genuine assistance from the pitch when the Greens started the chase of 151. But the bowlers continued to dominate. David Kennett started by spectacularly uprooting Rob Malone's offstump, then Nick Scott was snapped up at slip for 21. As Kennett dismissed Garven with a jaffa for 3, the struggle was confirmed. Bolstered by his two wickets earlier in the day, Martyn Corrin (67 not out) buckled down under lights and played with as much care as was required in the chase. His partner was Ben Read (31), playing his first game of the season, and both batsmen were solid in their advance toward the target. Kingsley Clapham offered a lifeline at 120-4, but Darren Dubb-Lynch joined Corrin and the two guided their team home.

Cricket Web Red innings 150 (44 overs)
H Mork 22 (48), ZJ Ritchie 21 (28), KR Clapham 21 (40)
XPA Rose 4-26 (8), BC Cunningham 2-25 (6)

Cricket Web Green innings 152-4 (34.3 overs)
M Corrin 67* (91), BS Read 31 (50), NG Scott 21 (21)
DM Kennett 2-39 (10)

Cricket Web Green won by 6 wickets.
Man of the Match: M Corrin (Green)

Cricket Web Black v Cricket Web Blue
Pickford Reserve

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Alex Blackman scored a measured 97 to undermine the Cricket Web Blue bowlers, and propel Cricket Web Black from a poor start to a winning total. He batted well in partnership with Gerard Armstrong, who contributed 74 not out to the total of 245-4. The response from CW Blue was brilliant - 96 for the first wicket - but for the second time in the match the Blacks charged back from a poor position to take control.

Veteran legspinner Neil Pickup beat Liam Camps jr. with a slider and bowled him for 45. The following over he slipped a googly past a casual back foot shot by Dinu DeSilva (3) and set the innings into freefall. Thamba Mamesh got to his half-century from 83 balls and failed to score for another 7 balls when he was caught off Dan Smith. The Blues lost their next 5 wickets for 39 runs, and Dunn joined Taylor with 72 runs needed from 47 balls. Taylor played a couple of excellent shots in his innings of 38, but could not on his own keep CW Blue on par with the required rate. They were all out for 221 halfway through the final over.

Medium pacer Sriram relished his chance with the new ball and took 2 quick wickets after CW Black chose to bat first. He took another, enticing Ash Chaulk to edge to slip for 46, and united Blackman and Armstrong for the defining partnership of the match.

Cricket Web Black innings 245-4 (50 overs)
AJ Blackman 97 (129), GAJ Armstrong 74* (104), AP Chaulk 46 (50)
G Sriram 3-38 (10)

Cricket Web Blue innings 221 (49.3 overs)
T Mamesh 50 (91), LA Camps 45 (79), BJ Taylor 38* (32)
NS Pickup 3-32 (10), DP Smith 2-20 (4)

Cricket Web Black won by 24 runs.
Man of the Match: AJ Blackman (Black)

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Gah, continuing our poor One Day performances :( Shocking batting that, though Dasa has improved, which is good to see.

Gross bowling from me. Anything like that again, I'll die. Terrific batting from Stedders and Armstrong. What a team.

Great stuff from the Green bowlers! Rose was dominant. Good work from Corrin and Read saw us home with plenty of time and wickets to spare.
