5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Seems to be the preferred method of communication with this squad. GG should be grateful that the groundman didn't grab the offending digit and see how far back he can bend it backwards towards the entitled litle ****.

Women's football stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

I think Hemp hit the crossbar in one of the knock-out games. Maybe very early on against Sweden? People forget that she did that in the WC Final when it was still 0-0. For all the talk of us being outplayed in that match, and yes Spain were the better side, that shot goes 3 inches lower and...

Women's football stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

I don't think that having moments of good fortune and showing grit are mutually exclusive anyway. Even against Sweden, they were incredibly gutsy to come back from 2 down, irrespective of what happened in the penalty shoot out.

Women's football stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

Apparently Carter was due to take our next one if Kelly missed, which, given the circumstances, was seriously brave. And apparently Bronze played the whole tournament with a fractured tibia, which is just ridiculous.

Whatever happens in the pens, they've done so well against an outstanding Spanish side. My daugher and I are struggling to name our five with Russo and Bronze off the pitch.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Ah well, off to watch the footie now.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Is that Jamie Overton? I can't say I rate him.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

What do we think of Dawson's performance today? I've not seen any of it, so all I know is he hasn't taken any wickets on a Day 4 & 5 wicket. And that he's been economical, but that's against a side playing for the draw. Maybe I'm being unfair.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

I'd forgotten about Tongue actually. I was thinking Atkinson and Potts. Maybe two of those three.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

I think I heard on the radio earlier today that Wood won't be fit enough for The Oval after all.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Archer for certain, and probably Carse. Ideally, Stokes won't send down too many overs at The Oval. Ironic that the oldie is probably able to play next week, although Woakes doesn't put his body through as much strain as the genuine quicks. Mind you, India may well be in a similar situation...

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

It will take something spectacular for India to lose this now. Great effort by their batters. Not sure what it says about England's attack.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

BBC commentary reckons that Pope did that a couple of overs ago.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Carse probably fancies a go on this pitch before the new ball arrives.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

I think the intention is for Pant to go ballistic in the overs that he faces. If so, Washington's contribution won't matter yet.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Cue a constant diet of fast yorkers? More importantly, how big is the moon boot? And did he need the buggy to get him out to the wicket?

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

@GIMH How are the overhead conditions at OT now? Still the same as at the start of play?

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

He's had his moments, notably India's 2nd innings last time. But, yeah, he's been the weak link here. EDIT Almost gets Thakur as we talk. I should have tried harder to completely write him off.
