4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Hit there by Woakes, trying some sort of reverse scoop.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Bashir needs to have a word with Stokes about how to make those ones count.

Especially with the 2nd new ball.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Especially as he'll be 38 by the time of the next Ashes over here.

    English Domestic Season 2025

Agreed, I was thinking more about the winter.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Has been spotted with his pads on? For a moment you had me thinking we'd taken a wicket.

And Bumrah's frankly a terrifying prospect. India may already have enough for a handy first innings lead.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

I get that Woakes may be worried about being driven at his pace. But that's the risk you should be taking when the ball is moving around.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Really? I get it that Archer will sometimes do that, not the rest of them. Mind you it did swing a fair bit.

    English Domestic Season 2025

Oddly, he was the seventh bowler used by his captain yesterday. But yeah, decent performance. Really encouraging from an England pov.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Maybe, but he's still finding his way back just now. Perhaps he'll take more when he's properly established, especially now that he's being more sensibly managed by his captain. Incidentally, haven't all of his wickets in the series been left-handers?

Women's football stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

The BBC have used Nedum Onuoha from time to time in these euros. Probably should have replied to @Molehill actually.

    English Domestic Season 2025

Fair do's. I was trying to understand how a pitch that started off giving undue help to the seamers could become a spinners' paradise so quickly, but those photos provide a clue.

    English Domestic Season 2025

Yeah, but the 2 days' play are pretty entertaining. Maybe some of the batters could learn to play spin better than what we've seen here. Anyway, Somerset are 62 for 5 chasing 86.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

That's a handy way to mark his return to test cricket.

Sounds like Woakes deserves that one. EDIT x 3

    Makes a welcome change tbh.

Pleased for you, but 'questionable' my arse unless they're playing rugby. Incidentally, I subsequently learnt that the player who conceded the penalty was the same one who missed that chance from the edge of the six yard box to put Italy 2-0 ahead near the end of normal time.

It would be nice if it wasn't Stokes' job to make a couple of breakthroughs here. But I think that's where we're heading.
