    Vale Derek Underwood

Deadly was a simply brilliant bowler. His key asset was the pace he bowled at, quicker than a normal spinner but could still turn the ball significantly. The best bowler I've ever seen for England.

    English Domestic Season 2024

After the virtual washout against Surrey, a decent enough 1st session against Hants, after losing the toss. Need to remove Vince though, starting to look pretty threatening.

Ten players you wished you could have seen live in their prime?

Bradman Hobbs Hammond G Pollock Sobers Tyson Larwood Miller Trueman Thomson - I saw him several times but only after his injury - would love to have seen him at his peak

That's just one series in each country though. When did India last win a series in England - 2007. When did Australia last win a series in England- 2001. My point is that yes England struggle in India but top teams struggle when they come to England.

To be a great team, you have to win away from home and win against the likes of India, Australia and England. But for us, we're not in that conversation. It's wrong but England's management will be judged largely by what happens against Australia. If we'd got beat away to Australia 4-1 there...

England players and selection discussion thread

I think our batting is in the best shape it's been for ages. Duckett and Crawley at the top of the order are proving to be the best partnership we've had in ages. Pope at 3, Root at 4, Brook at 5 with Stokes at 6 is pretty good as well. Bairstow will keep and bat a 7 - in home conditions...

We've been woeful in this test, it looked like a test too far for a team that has already lost the series and wants to go home. Whilst that's understandable it was nonetheless unacceptable. Before the series started I didn't give us any chance and that proved right, we were actually more...

Duckett's interviews have been really embarrassing of late and he's coming across as a bit of a knob to be honest. Someone needs to get a grip of him and tell him to behave.

I think the team is as expected. Robinson was really disappointing with the ball in the last test and a fit and firing Woody is always a threat.

Hawkeye founder on 'umpires call' debate

So if his name was say Paul Sparrow rather than Paul Hawkins, would it be called Sparroweye 🤔 At least he wasn't called Paul Japs

Excellent knock from the skipper to see Ireland home. Really big win and well deserved.

Massive partnership now for Ireland between Balbirnie and Stirling. Two very experienced players who need to see their side on the path to victory.

*Official* Australia tour of New Zealand Feb-Mar 2024

Sounds like it was probably Australia's day, sent in on a tricky pitch. Obviously I don't like praising any Aussies 😆 but I've always thought Cam Green looked a special talent, I'm surprised his test record isn't better. This innings could really give him the confidence he needs to produce...

Whenever you lose a series, it's always natural to look for reasons. Maybe if we'd done that or not done this, the result would have been different. But in this series, the truth is India won because in Indian conditions they are better than us. Going or not going to Abu Dhabi between tests...

Does anyone wish, odi cricket was back?

I much prefer 50 over cricket to T20. I don't mind the international T20 so much but even then its only really the World Cup that grabs my attention. I don't watch much domestic T20 stuff and I hate the franchiae nature of it, particularly the IPL as it interferes with proper cricket...

There's just something about Robinson, he always looks like he needs a rocket up his backside to galvanise him into action. He's a really talented bowler and we need him more than ever with Broad retiring but whatever the issues with him are, he needs to sort them out.

We all know that the WTC Final should be at Lords for the following reasons. 1. It's the Home of cricket and a good crowd is guaranteed whoever is playing. 2. Logistically it makes sense as all teams are free to play during the English summer. You have to plan these events in advance without...

India as you would expect in Indian conditions were the better team - fair play to them. But before some of the Indian supporters on here self combust with happiness at beating us, the real test for any team comes away from home and as we know India's record in England is not so good. In...

The truth is in the last 20 years or so, Australia have underperformed in both England and India. No series win in India since 2004. No series win in England since 2001. We've won series in both India and Australia during that period so we won't be taking any lessons from the Aussies about not...
