*Official* Australia vs South Africa -2022/3

I shudder to think what Ravi Ashwin would have done if he was the bowler instead of Mitchell Starc.

*Official* India tour of Ireland and England 2022

I support 2 test teams. Australia and any team playing against India. So I hope the Poms clean them up today. I can’t stand Kohli being the sole reason. I see Bairstow being a big threat in the 2023 Ashes series. Hope our think tank has started to make plans on how to reduce his run output.

The FINAL, Australia v New Zealand (THE BATTLE OF THE MITCHELLS) at the Ring of Fire, Dubai-- 11/14 Sunday (N)

Finch’s major contribution to the win was winning most of the tosses and his captaincy. His batting apart from one game was ordinary. Starc did very little as well. They are the 2 players who should be under the most pressure to retain their spots.

Australia v Pakistan (BRING IT ON!) at the Ring of Fire, Dubai-- 11/11 Thursday (N), Semi-final #2

Doing a mankad without giving the batsman a warning first is against the spirit of cricket. Doing it a second time if the batsman fails to take heed of the warning is fair in my book.

Greatest individual limited overs knock in history

Isaac Vivian Alexander Richards. 189 no at Old Trafford around 1984. WI were 9 for 160 when last man Michael Holding joined him. Richards went from 80 when Holding joined him to 189 no. Holding faced 16 balls. I was working in England at that point and was at the ground. I couldn’t believe the...

    2nd greatest living cricketer

From my experiences left wrist spin or "chinaman" as they are sometimes known, are the most difficult bowlers to face.

100% correct. I said this in another post that you might not have seen.

In some horrible form with the bat

During my playing days which are long in the past now, I got into a rut a few times. I found time in the middle by playing a long innings was the best cure. I asked to open the batting so I wasn't sitting around using up nervous energy waiting to bat. Normally I batted 4 or 5. From there I...

    Ponting for mine.

    2nd greatest living cricketer

Where an all rounder comes in handy is on the sub continent where it gets stinking hot and there is a need for 2 spinners. This is where a fast medium bowler who can bat 6 comes into play. At the moment with our attack Marnus would be our 2nd spinner and while he is good for a few overs and the...

    2nd greatest living cricketer

I was just highlighting the significance of having batters who can bowl a bit like the Waugh's and Blewett who were at one stage in the same test team. They can contribute a few overs and the odd wicket while the main bowlers are resting. At the moment our test team needs Cameron Green to...

    2nd greatest living cricketer

I did some part time work at the indoor cricket centre in Bankstown when their winter Friday night junior comp was going early this century.. There was a curly haired little guy of 12 to 13 years of age who arrived every week at 4pm for a 615 game. It was Steve Smith. His parents both worked...

    2nd greatest living cricketer

Thank you. Started playing as an 8 year old in 1962. Finished in 1986. Coached juniors and Junior Reps in Sydney from 1976 to 1991. Just a spectator now, but still enjoy watching the game. Bit of an armchair selector at times.

Saturday 24 October: Australia v South Africa and West Indies v England Match Discussion

Can't be long before the Warner/Finch combination is split up, one way or another. We need more from our top 3. Hope the pitch for the next game is better. When batsmen with a good eye but less than top class foot movement get to their mid 30's form often starts to deteriorate and selectors...

    2nd greatest living cricketer

Hi. Just joined this forum this morning. An interesting poll. I am assuming we rank all rounders higher than specialists. No doubt Sobers is the best all round cricketer of my lifetime. Could do it all. Bat, field and bowl in three different styles. No one since comes close. Of the players...
