England begging for a draw, Manchester, 27th July 2025

We should be grateful though. Stokes offered us a handshake.

Yaa, let's ignore that most of the posts before that comment were from Indians.

England begging for a draw, Manchester, 27th July 2025

Your comment was directed towards us Indians. It unfairly ignores legitimate historical reasons for any resentment and instead makes it sound like it’s just “in their blood,” which is what makes it an offensive statement.

Agree, that was in a very bad taste.

Agreed. Nowhere near the performance Stokes gave yesterday. Walked up to Jadeja with his hand in the air, offering a handshake for the cameras. Could’ve just had a word with him first. But I guess that’s not dramatic enough.

Since England don't play for personal milestones.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

You don’t get to call it off just because you’re bored. Two guys were grinding for their first hundreds. Maybe try stopping them instead of sulking like someone stole your scone.

Not my comment: Ben Stokes begging the world's best all-rounder to stop the match, then cries like a baby when he refused.

I would support this only if it was applied to wars. Not some cricket game.

What would Bradman average if he played in a typical (i.e. neither batsman or bowler favored) period of the modern era (1970 - current)?

Being four standard deviations above the mean just highlights you're rare within your dataset. Standard deviation isn't a time machine, it's local to the context. Same Z-score, totally different mountain. However, I'd argue Bradman would still be four standard deviations above in any era...

What would Bradman average if he played in a typical (i.e. neither batsman or bowler favored) period of the modern era (1970 - current)?

Absolutely agree. Bradman would still be four standard deviations above the rest. Just look at the footage, the bowling that he dominated was top class. I see no reason to believe he wouldn't have absolutely dominated Holding, Marshall, Garner, Roberts, Walsh, Ambrose, Akhtar, Wasim, Waqar...

What would Bradman average if he played in a typical (i.e. neither batsman or bowler favored) period of the modern era (1970 - current)?

Modern cricket is a different game. Fitter players, smarter tactics, superior bowling. But none of that should take away from how timeless a 99.94 really is. People mention the soft LBW rule, generous fielding, bowlers who worked factory jobs, the lack of fitness, the absence of reverse swing...
