5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

    Mitchell Johnson, but he improved.

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Potts was always a pound shop Robinson. Unlike most on here I actually rate Joverton. Since he moved to Surrey and changed his run-up he's been pretty good. Still a weird selection for this match, though, given his lack of cricket this summer.

    English Domestic Season 2025

I guess he's unusual in being a left arm bowler whose stock ball is the away-swinger to the right-hander, but I'm surprised he's quick enough to trouble county level batters.

    English Domestic Season 2025

How the hell is Luis Reece a frontline bowler in first-class cricket, let alone a successful one? No speed gun in this match but he looks to be barely touching 60mph. What's his secret?

John Crawley was 6'2". Just saying.

Only seen the wickets but that looked a poor batting display from Durham.

    Not for that reason, no.

What we learned from the 4th test

Graham Gooch was notoriously dim, still did OK though.

What we learned from the 4th test

Has Brook ever played club cricket in Australia?

What *should* Ben Stokes have done when Jadeja refused to accept a draw?

Agree. But some people seem to think he shouldn't have bowled Brook. The problem was the sledging not the switch to part time bowling.

What *should* Ben Stokes have done when Jadeja refused to accept a draw?

By offering a draw Stokes had already signalled that he Jadeja and Washington had won that particular "game within a game". I don't blame him for not wanting to play it any further.

What *should* Ben Stokes have done when Jadeja refused to accept a draw?

By that point playing on "to challenge the opposition" was worth nothing, because there was no way such a "challenge" could lead to a positive result.

What *should* Ben Stokes have done when Jadeja refused to accept a draw?

OK, why should he risk injury to his main bowlers to PREVENT the opposition getting centuries at a point where it made no difference to the outcome of the match?

What *should* Ben Stokes have done when Jadeja refused to accept a draw?

I agree the self-pity was unedifying but why should Stokes risk injury to his main bowlers just so that opposition batters can get to three figures?

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

They won't pick either, but I'd rather they go for Rehan than Bethell.

Are babar azam and marnus labuschgane underachievers?

Does Labuschagne really have a perfect technique?
