Hashim Amla- the most misleading odi stats ever

It is a whinge. I guess the member is Indian and would not like to hear about Kohlis tournament failures or Tendulkars consistent failures in crunch matches. FACT is, Amla is one of the greats. Is he a greater ODI bat then Viv, Ponting, Tendulkar, AB and Gilly? No cors not, but then again, who is.

***Official*** India in South Africa 2017/18

good to see morkel and ngidi back in the side, a much better bowling unit with them in it now, amla and ab have to fire if they are to win here

    Cricketers over the Decades

Yep, it's not a criteria to be used pre 1950 as I mentioned, with regards to the wars and less cricket being played. I agree, it's why I have Dujon above Hadlee but below Khan and Botham.

    India's Fourth Best Opener

A serious drop off in quality from Gavaskar and Sehwag to whoever is next. I guess Gambhir?

    Cricketers over the Decades

Good stuff but Bradman doesn't meet the criteria of a minimum of 30 tests in a decade BUT it is acceptable purely because of the amount of cricket lost due to WW2.

    Cricketers over the Decades

    Can't seem to edit my first post, so a tweaked 80s line up: 1. G. Greenidge 2. D. Haynes 3. Z. Abbas 4. IVA Richards 5. J. Miandad 6. A. Border 7. I. Khan c 8. I. Botham 9. Dujon wk 10. R. Hadlee 11. M. Marshall Bringing it into the current century, my 00s line up - 1. S. Tendulkar 2. M...

    Cricketers over the Decades

You fail to understand the point, this isn't about who is the best ever but who wast he best according to each decade. I know most can easily pick Bradman as the best batsman of 30s, maybe even the 40s and his stats (in particular the gap between him and the next best) would back that up. But...

***Official*** India in South Africa 2017/18

Really lacklustre batting, and as I said, their batting is a big weakness. The pitch isnt nearly as bad as some made it out to be and today it has kinda flattened...only for the saffers to barely get the ball off the square. There isn't even any menacing pace or swing from the bowlers here. I...

All time world ODI XI game

Surprised by how many votes for Dhoni, considering Gilly was a better keeper, fitter and a far more decisive batsman. Mine is Gilly wk Akram Younis Why split up the best ODI pair I've seen. I can understand votes for McGrath though.

Best in the world title belt history

lol kinda similar to what I've just done with my thread. I agree with a lot of it but Miandad has to have a place somewhere in the 80s, above Border and Crowe. I know those 2 are favourites on here but he was one of the absolute best durin parts of the 70s and 80s and few scored as heavily with...

    Cricketers over the Decades

Just on the fact that there is more known about those players and far more video available. If someone would like to go farther back in time, that is fine too.

    Cricketers over the Decades

There is always lots of talk, as it is the case in any sport, of who was the best ever. In cricket, with its 3 distinct roles and changes to conditions, equipment and rules throughout the years, it is even more difficult to answer. So, I wanted to have a discussion on who the best cricketers...

*Official* Australia v England post-Ashes ODI series

Indeed, England were a very good ODI side throughout the 80s and ultimately up to 1992 BUT it wasn't just that our best players retired and the new ones couldn't quite match up, rather the state of the game changed. Pakistan popularised hitting out in the last 10 and have sheering pace and...

    Draft idea: Silent auction

There will definitely be better balanced XIs, but no one is beating that batting line up and the inclusion of Akram.

Best spinner in the world today(tests) : Herath vs Ashwin vs Yasir Shah

Just read Yasir has 43 in only 6 tests this year. Now that is going under the radar. I'd still pick Lyon in an annual XI for 2017 but Shah isn't too far off. Plus he was pretty bad in Aus, but then again, it has been the death of most spinners. He has wickets and/or match winning spells pretty...

*Official* Australia v England post-Ashes ODI series

Most of these guys don't play test cricket, even though some of them could be in the side. I don't see the overlap. I agree, they have to win a tournament to truly solidify that place AS A TEAM but as a pure batting unit, I don't see why winning a tournament would crown them? The bowling also...

*Official* Australia v England post-Ashes ODI series

Since the end of the last world cup, England have played 13 ODI series (this is the 14th), having won 9, with the Irish match being abandoned due to rain. The real turning point was beating Bangladesh in their backyard, a very difficult team to do that to in ODIs, then they were competitive...

    Draft idea: Silent auction

I literally just did that, as I forgot to do it before. I just wish I hadn't gone for Jones and Hoggard.

Best spinner in the world today(tests) : Herath vs Ashwin vs Yasir Shah

I would go for Yasir Ashwin Herath Lyon Yasir is the best all condition spinner around, Lyon is the most tenacious, Herath with the bets longevity and Ashwin with the most turn in helpful conditions.
