Better Batsman : Jadeja vs Imran

I think this series puts him over imran for me. I had them pretty even but he's played a ton of very important knocks overseas now. Even in the australia tour where he overall struggled he still made an excellent 70 odd to save a match.

    Tendulkar's 1999/2000 BGT vs Kohli's 2018 South African tour

The MCG pitch on which Tendulkar got that great ton was pretty sporting IIRC, India just bowled rubbish so it looks like a flat deck from the scorecard. Kohli got some real minefields though, especially Joburg where he got a 40 odd and a fifty. Getting double figures there was an achievement.

    Tendulkar's 1999/2000 BGT vs Kohli's 2018 South African tour

Kohli definitely, the pitches were ridiculous. Could've been Sachin if the umpires weren't trash though. Got two howlers that series when he was batting superbly.

Is Javed Miandad an ATG test batsman?

It's possible. But it's the overall skew of home vs away along with his technique being clearly susceptible to LBWs which makes it suspicious.

Is Javed Miandad an ATG test batsman?

50 innings across 9 years at home. Only 8 LBWs in his whole career at home in 86 innings, compared to 25 LBWs away from home in 103 innings. It's definitely sus, especially when you consider Miandad's technique involved a lot of shuffling across and defending with his pads in front of the...

Is Javed Miandad an ATG test batsman?

Then Johan's post was pointless. Who cares if Hadlee went off injured if Miandad was on a million not out already.

Is Javed Miandad an ATG test batsman?

Wasn't Miandad already 200+ by the point Hadlee got injured?

*Official* India tour of England 2025 General Discussion

The flat pitch tests were also fantastic imo. The India rearguard after 0-2 at Manchester was one of my favourite things about the series.

    All-Time World XIs: Discussion Thread

Gooch's away record was so ****ing dreadful. I get he did some amazing things vs Wi but come on. An away average of 36 doesn't lie. Didn't average 40+ away anywhere except India and WI. And his overall record benefits by him playing the majority (63%) of his games at home, unlike other openers...

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

I mean it was a diabolical shot and he lost his body shape so badly that his bat travelled further than the ball did. Why exactly should criticism of a terrible attacking shot be out of bounds even if it came at the end of a great attacking innings? If someone made a great defensive hundred...

*Official* Road to the 2025-26 Ashes

And the kind of pitches Australia have rolled out recently. Give these English batsmen the kind of roads Australia used to produce some 6-7 years ago and I'd back them to score loads.

Botham is selected as a 7 below de villiers. That's fine. The drop in quality of the number 6 from the first 4 XIs to the fifth is huge.

    All-Time World XIs

Fair enough. Should've gone Worrell then though imo. Jadeja is not good enough to bat 6 in an ATG xi.

    All-Time World XIs

That batting lineup is really bad. How did we go from sanga and sobers and border and de villiers at 6 to Ames/Jadeja ffs. Jadeja is also the sixth bowling option what even is the point? A specialist bat like Miandad or Worrell would've been miles better.

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Crawley coming away from the series with his place still seemingly not in question because he scored a few quick fifties is hilarious. Some of the flattest pitches England have ever rolled out and he still only managed to average 32. In a series where every established batsmen worth a damn piled...
